2010 New England Whitewater Triple Crown Championships

On April 10 & 11, the New England Whitewater Triple Crown Championships return to Tariffville Gorge with an even larger number of world class competitors than last year.

In 2009 we had past and current World Champions in Freestyle and Slalom, members of the Canadian National Slalom Team and all the members chosen later for the US National Freestyle Team, plus paddlers from Colorado, Georgia and places between.  News of how many champions attended in 2009, our inaugural year, and how much it was enjoyed has spread throughout the competitive paddling sport’s network and encouraged other top competitors to compete in 2010.  This year will be even better than last year!

This will not only be a great event to watch, but an opportunity to share the excitement by volunteering to help monitor the races alongside expert judges or to help manage the safety and security of the spectators.  Last year’s volunteers had a great time, learned a lot and many are returning for 2010.  Newcomers are needed for our bigger 2010 event.

Please join us in hosting this fabulous Olympic level canoe and kayak racing event which puts Tariffville into a national spotlight.  You can choose one or more time slots to help.

We need volunteers for each of three shifts during the competition, plus some folks on earlier dates to help set up the wires across the Gorge for holding the Slalom poles, and some for teardown after the event.

The competition shifts are Saturday, April 10, 8:00-12:00 and 12:00-4:00, then Sunday, April 11, 8:00-1:00.  Volunteers must first visit the Race HQ at the Mill at Tariffville 30 minutes before their first shift to receive specific assignments and instructions.

Installing the wires for the Slalom course will be on Saturday and Sunday, March 27 & 28, plus Saturday and Sunday, April 3 & 4, if needed.  Course teardown will be on Sunday afternoon just after the final race.
